Introducing La Perle

Franco Dragone, the founder of the iconic Cirque du Soleil brand, is soon to bring a show that is the first of its kind in Dubai. La Perle, a Las Vegas-style theatrical residency, will open at the end of the year and will find its home in the 1,300-seat theatre at The Atrium in Al Habtoor City, one of the destinations residing on the brand new Dubai Water Canal development.

There will be 450 fittingly water themed shows a year, with 65 performers and 70 specialist technicians all working together to bring a spectacular production on a custom built ‘aqua stage’. Each dazzling performance will include the most advanced circus-style aerial stunts in the world, including 35 metre dives, and stars swinging at four metres per second, using 2.5 million litres of water, fountains and hydraulic lifts.

In Dragone’s own words, “La Perle will be the most awe-inspiring, and technically advanced theatre production I have ever produced and directed. New and unique for the region with the world’s best creative team and incredible performers, La Perle is inspired by the spirit of Dubai and will reflect the beauty and flavours of Arabia. It will be the soul of Al Habtoor City.”

It is to be expected that a show executed by Dragone would not be anything less than breathtaking. One of the world’s best known and most revered cultural artistic directors, Franco Dragone is famed for reinventing the genre of theatre, and pushing the boundaries of performing arts. He is responsible for other outstanding productions such as Le Rêve (or The Dream), in Las Vegas, and another aqua based show, The House of Dancing Water, in Macau.

The Atrium is a five-story complex, home to seven restaurants and La Perle. It will be one of the many new exciting food and entertainment attractions opening in the canal-side destination of Al Habtoor City in late 2016.
